Cold? Try These Tricks!

When the temperature drops, we find ourselves craving everything warm – soups, tea, blankets, fires, you name it. But sometimes all of the coziest things in the world can’t warm you all the way to your core. So, when you find yourself frozen from the inside out, turn to these six foods and beverages that are scientifically proven to thaw you out this winter!
Fresh Ginger
Ginger works to warm you up by stimulating your blood flow, and more blood flow means a warmer core and warmer extremities. Though ginger is most appetizing when used as a spice in soups, salads, or curries, you’ll maximize this super spice’s benefits when you eat it raw – peeled, of course! If raw ginger isn’t quite your cup of tea, you’ll get similar, but not as potent, effects from other root veggies such as carrots or beets.
Peanuts
Peanuts are high in vitamin B3, which is amazing at promoting blood flow and boosting your metabolism, both of which are key to warming up from the inside out. This amazing little legume is jam-packed with healthy fats and lots of protein, so you’ll get a great snack out of it, too!
Coffee
Thank goodness, everyone’s morning life source actually helps keep you warm on chilly winter mornings! The high amounts of caffeine in coffee stimulates your metabolism, which in turn acts as a warming agent inside your body. Now, when you’re on your third cup of the morning, you have an excuse: It’s for warmth!
Ice Water
Believe it or not, this chilly beverage will actually help keep you warm! When you drink a hot beverage, your body temperature actually drops to counteract the added heat, so a cold beverage would do the opposite and raise your body temperature to keep you warm!
Coconut Oil
Like peanuts, coconut oil is filled with healthy fats that break down into fuel for your body, boosting your metabolism along the way. That extra generated energy will make you feel warm even on the chilliest days!

Brown Rice
Unlike simple or refined carbohydrates such as white rice and pasta, brown rice is a complex carb that will take much longer for your body to break down. This means you’ll get an extended release of energy (and heat)!
